A person who spiked candy with sleeping medication and provided them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offences against two young males both nine and 10.
The defendant was detained after eight youngsters and one adult became sick at Stathern Lodge in July.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the judicial center on Friday.
Yet, he disputed one particular crime he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a further hearing on late November.
'Sweet game'
Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, outlined Ruben's offending to the court.
She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he ran.
The defendant conducted a "sweet game" with the children, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and request they to consume candy "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings the man had conducted this practice with the young males "for many years", and minors had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She said Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had worries in recently.
The legal representative stated further: "Recently" his stepchild had worries about what was going on, justifiably.
"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."
The legal counsel explained objects including baby oil, petroleum jelly and medical needles were found, and his stepchild contacted the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She stated the defendant went on to conduct the "treat game" with six youngsters that evening - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that stage," she continued.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, previously told that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
The legal representative explained the children were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so the family member called the law enforcement once more.
She stated the defendant then engaged in the "treat game" in a space of five youngsters.
